Banks, government offices, and platforms never ask you to move money, share one-time codes, or keep a contact secret. A caller who does any of those is not behaving like the institution they claim to be, no matter how accurate the rest of the script is.
The verification that survives is channel-based: hang up, and call the number on the back of your card, in the official app, or on the agency's public site. If the threat was real, it will still be there; if it was not, it dissolves.
The protocol
- Note what the caller claims and what they are asking you to do — move money, share a code, or stay silent.
- Do not act on urgency, and never share a one-time code, password, or PIN with anyone, including someone claiming to be support.
- Hang up and call the institution on a number you already have — the back of your card, the official app, the agency's public line.
- If you shared a code or sent money, contact the institution immediately, then report at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
What the tool does
Walk an account-locked call through a caller-verification reading with the basis shown and a hang-up script. It runs in this browser; nothing is sent or stored.
Limit first: This is a caller-verification aid, not a fraud investigation service. It can miss a pattern and it can flag an ordinary call. A clean reading never proves a caller is real.

Call the institution on a number you already have. If credentials or money moved, act with the institution first, then report to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
Research log and safety checks
AI-assist path: not used for a verdict. This artifact is an inspectable caller-verification walkthrough; a remote model would add an opaque classification where the reader needs to see the channel mismatch. §6.10: not a frontier-pace topic.
§0.5 protection result: category is scam-fraud-defense; crisis-adjacent: no; fear/urgency/scarcity toolkit used: no. The protective function is free and the paid feature is convenience only.
