AGENTS / WHAT DID IT BUY

The Agent Bought Something. Reconcile It Before the Next Cycle.

Agent purchases show up as ordinary charges, sometimes with merchant names you do not recognize, and subscriptions renew quietly. One short reconciliation pass turns a vague worry into a list.

Why reconciliation catches what vigilance misses

Agent charges are hard to spot because they look like normal purchases: a merchant name that does not match the store, a currency difference, an amount that includes a fee the agent did not mention. Scanning does not surface those; matching does.

The expensive failure is recurrent. A duplicate subscription or an annual renewal started by an agent during a trial is small each time and large over a year, and it is invisible unless someone is comparing cycles.

The protocol

  1. Export the last two statements from the card the agent holds, and list every charge that could plausibly be the agent's.
  2. Match each charge to something you authorized: a confirmation, a booking, a message, or an order. Anything unmatched is a question.
  3. Mark recurring entries and check when each started. If you did not intend a recurring charge, cancel it and note the date.
  4. For unmatched charges, contact the merchant first, then the card issuer, in writing, stating what you did and did not authorize.
  5. Set a monthly date to repeat this pass. Five minutes a month is the whole cost of not losing track.

What the tool does

Reconcile the charges an AI agent made: map each one to an authorization, flag recurring entries, and list the follow-ups. It runs in this browser; nothing is sent or stored.

Limit first: This is a reconciliation aid, not financial or legal advice. Dispute rights and deadlines depend on your card agreement and local law.

One human next step

If a merchant will not reverse an unauthorized recurring charge, ask your card issuer to block future charges from that merchant — in writing — and file a complaint with the CFPB if it continues.

Research log and safety checks

AI-assist path: not used for a verdict. Matching charges to authorizations is exactly the kind of work the reader must see line by line; a model summary would hide the unmatched entries that matter. §6.10: not a frontier-pace topic.

§0.5 protection result: category is financial-agent-exposure; crisis-adjacent: no; fear/urgency/scarcity toolkit used: no. The protective function is free and the paid feature is convenience only.
