The free tool below runs entirely in this browser — no account, nothing stored or transmitted. Redact anything you would not want kept before you type it.
Open the companion tool →Why one report is usually not enough
Platform reporting handles the post, not the person who made it and not the harm that follows. Aggregators, imposter accounts, and copies on other services need their own reports, which is why a route with several waypoints outperforms a single complaint.
Reports fail on details: a missing timestamp, a screenshot without the URL, a deleted post that cannot be cited. Building the evidence file first is what makes the rest of the route possible.
The protocol
- Read the escalation block above first if a minor is depicted or anyone is in immediate danger.
- Preserve the evidence before you report: URL, account handle, timestamp, and a screenshot that includes the browser address bar.
- Report on the platform where it is hosted, and keep the confirmation number. Report imposter accounts separately from posts.
- File with the registry or agency that matches the content: a take-down service where a minor is depicted, the FTC or IC3 where money was involved, and the platform's own escalation path for impersonation of a public figure.
- Set a follow-up date and re-check. If the content is still up, escalate with the confirmation number from the first report rather than starting over.
What the tool does
Answer six short questions and get an ordered reporting route: what to preserve, where to file, what to cite, and when to follow up. It runs in this browser; nothing is sent or stored.
Limit first: This is a routing aid, not a legal service and not an image-forensics tool. It cannot tell whether media is synthetic, and it cannot guarantee a platform will act.

If a fake is being used to solicit money from people you know, tell them directly today — a short message with the real account handles prevents the next payment. For ongoing commercial or reputational harm, a lawyer who handles defamation and impersonation can advise on what is actionable.
Research log and safety checks
AI-assist path: not used for a verdict. The artifact builds a routing plan; the escalation resource is verified as real before publication per §8 Step 5, and the app renders that block before the tool per §0.5b. §6.10: not a frontier-pace topic.
§0.5 protection result: category is deepfake-media-verification; crisis-adjacent: yes; fear/urgency/scarcity toolkit used: no. The protective function is free and the paid feature is convenience only. Hard-stop escalation path verified: If a minor is depicted, use NCMEC's Take It Down (takeitdown.ncmec.org) or call 1-800-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678). If anyone is in immediate danger, call 911 (US). Crisis support: call or text 988 (US)..
