FAMILY / SEXTORTION RESPONSE

Sextortion and AI-Made Images: A Non-Shaming, Action-First Guide.

AI image tools have made sextortion faster and crueler — and the victim is never at fault. This guide leads with action: stop contact, save evidence, and get the right help, in that order.

Help first — read this before the tool

If you are in immediate danger, call 911 (US). For help removing intimate images of a minor, contact NCMEC at takeitdown.ncmec.org or call 1-800-THE-LOST. Crisis support: call or text 988 (US).

Why action comes before everything

In sextortion, the shame is the weapon — the threat works by making the victim feel too embarrassed to act. The first thing to remove is the blame: this is a crime, the victim did nothing wrong, and there are resources built exactly for it.

The actions are three and in order: stop contact and never pay, preserve the evidence, and report to the platform and the right authority. For images of a minor, NCMEC's Take It Down is the specific, free route to removal.

The protocol

  1. If in immediate danger, call 911 now.
  2. Stop contact and do not pay — paying does not make it stop, and it funds more of it.
  3. Preserve the evidence: do not delete the messages, and screenshot them securely.
  4. Report to the platform, then to NCMEC (Take It Down) for a minor's images, and to a trusted adult.

What the tool does
