Start with the channel change
Paste the message without adding passwords, one-time codes, account numbers, or private medical details. Redact those first.
Open the companion tool →Why this matters
Pressure is a behavior, not a spelling mistake. Look for a request to move money, reveal a code, keep the conversation secret, or bypass a normal account or family process. One marker is not a verdict; several markers together are a reason to change channels before you act.
The tool below runs a small, inspectable pattern pass in your browser. It does not decide whether a message is authentic, and it does not contact a bank, platform, or sender. Its job is narrower: make the pressure visible while you still have room to choose.
The protocol
- Paste the message without adding passwords, one-time codes, account numbers, or private medical details. Redact those first.
- Read the marker basis. “Urgent” is not proof of fraud; it is a cue to stop treating the message as the only source of truth.
- Use the generated reply only as a pause. Open the official app or call a saved number you already had, never a link or number supplied in the message.
- If you already paid, contact the bank or payment service immediately. Speed belongs with the institution’s recovery process, not with the sender’s demand.
What a useful result looks like
A useful result does not say “scam” or “safe.” It says what the message is asking you to do, which pressure markers it found, and what independent next step will reduce the sender’s control.
Limit first: This is a communication aid, not a fraud investigation service. It can miss a pattern and it can flag an ordinary urgent message. Do not paste secrets. A clean reading never proves a message is real.
Build your pressure pattern reader →One human next step
If money or credentials have already moved, contact the bank, card issuer, or payment service now; then use the appropriate reporting channel such as the FTC’s ReportFraud.gov.
Research log and safety checks
AI-assist path: not used for a verdict. This artifact is an inspectable pressure-pattern aid; a remote model would add an opaque classification where the reader needs to see the basis. §6.10: not a frontier-pace topic.
§0.5 protection result: category is scam-fraud-defense; crisis-adjacent: no; fear/urgency/scarcity toolkit used: no. The protective function is free and the paid feature is convenience only.
