FINANCE / AGENT PURCHASES

The Agent Bought It. Then the Fees Arrived

Agentic checkout crosses borders, currencies, and fee schedules faster than you can read them. A fee log turns a confusing statement into a comparable purchase total.

Why the price shown is not the price paid

Dynamic conversion, cross-border surcharges, payment-processor markups, and seller-side fees can each appear after the confirmation screen.

Under card-network rules, some fees are disclosable and some are not; the log is what makes the difference visible and disputable.

The protocol

  1. Export the order confirmations and the matching card transactions.
  2. For each order, write the listed price, the charged amount, and the difference.
  3. Identify each fee by name: conversion, surcharge, service, delivery, or seller fee.
  4. Compare the same order done without the agent or with a different payment method.
  5. Keep the table with the receipts and reference numbers.

What the tool does

Build an agent-purchase fee log It runs locally in this browser and sends nothing.

Limit first: This is a record-keeping aid, not financial, investment or legal advice. It cannot stop a charge, reverse a transaction, or establish who is legally liable.

One human next step

Ask your card issuer to identify each fee in writing; if a fee was not disclosed, dispute the difference in writing with the merchant and then with the issuer.
