FINANCE / AGENT AUTHORITY

An Agent Still Has Your Card. Take the Authority Back

Shopping and booking agents store payment credentials and renew subscriptions you may not remember authorising. Revoking authority is a written process, not just a settings toggle.

Why stored credentials outlive the task

The agent's convenience depends on persistent access to your payment method. That access survives the purchase that motivated it, and often the vendor relationship itself.

Every card network and payment provider has a written channel for revoking a merchant's authorisation; the request is what makes the revocation auditable.

The protocol

  1. List each agent, app, or checkout service that holds a card or bank credential.
  2. Match each to the subscriptions and transactions it has produced in the last six months.
  3. Revoke stored credentials in each service and remove the card from the vendor's account.
  4. Request a replacement card number where a merchant's authorisation cannot be cancelled directly.
  5. Send written revocation notices and record the dates and reference numbers.

What the tool does

Build an agent-authority revocation record It runs locally in this browser and sends nothing.

Limit first: This is a record-keeping aid, not financial, investment or legal advice. It cannot stop a charge, reverse a transaction, or establish who is legally liable.

Cost and free path

Cost: Free: one complete run in this browser, no account. Optional $4 one-time unlock allows unlimited runs of this tool on this browser. The free path and safety guidance never require payment.

Free path, in order (no cost):

  1. CFPB complaint route if a provider will not revoke or refund
  2. Your card issuer's fraud line, using the number on the card
  3. FTC consumer alerts for recurring-charge guidance

What this cannot do: It cannot stop a charge, reverse a transaction, or establish who is legally liable.

One human next step

Call the number on the back of your card and ask specifically to revoke the merchant's authorisation and block future charges; then dispute any charge that arrives afterwards in writing.
