PRIVACY / ToS BREAKDOWN

What Does This AI App Do With What You Paste? A Plain-Language Read.

The terms answer the question, but in language built to be skipped. The check turns the privacy section into plain questions: what it collects, who sees it, and whether it trains on it.

Why the terms are worth five minutes

What you paste into an AI app can include work product, health detail, private conversations, and things about other people who never agreed. The terms say what happens to all of it — but in language designed to be scrolled past.

The five questions that matter are narrow: what is collected, who it is shared with, how long it is kept, whether it trains a model, and which setting would change any of that. Those five are usually findable in minutes.

The protocol

  1. Paste the privacy or data-use section of the terms.
  2. Read the plain breakdown: collection, sharing, retention, training, and the changeable setting.
  3. If training is on by default, find the opt-out setting before pasting anything sensitive.
  4. For anything you would not want in a training set or a breach, use a redacted or non-AI route.

What the tool does

Paste a privacy or data-use section and get a plain-language breakdown of collection, sharing, retention, and training. It runs in this browser; nothing is sent or stored.

Limit first: This is a reading aid, not legal advice and not a guarantee about any company's practices. Terms change; verify against the current version on the app's site.

One human next step

Check the app's settings for the training opt-out. For sensitive material, consider a redacted or non-AI route, and see the FTC's guidance on data practices.

Research log and safety checks

AI-assist path: not used for a verdict. This artifact is an inspectable extraction aid; a remote model could help summarize, but the reader needs to see the five fields and their wording, not a paraphrase. §6.10: not a frontier-pace topic.

§0.5 protection result: category is data-privacy-exposure; crisis-adjacent: no; fear/urgency/scarcity toolkit used: no. The protective function is free and the paid feature is convenience only.
