A face cannot be reissued like a password. Once a template exists, deletion depends on a company's process, which is precisely what you are entitled to ask about.
Several states require notice and consent before collecting biometric identifiers, and a written request is the practical way to find out what applies to you.
The protocol
- List the photo and video apps you have used that processed your face, with dates.
- Pull each app's current privacy policy and record what it says about facial data and retention.
- Send a written request for the categories of biometric data held, the purpose, and the deletion process.
- Record the date and reference of each request and the answer you receive.
- Turn off facial features you do not need and note the change in the same record.
