The second loss in these situations is usually a family disagreement about what to do first, or two people calling the same bank twice while nobody calls the bank that actually holds the account. Roles fix that in one page.
The plan is also kinder to the person being targeted. Being managed by a committee is worse than being helped by a named person, and the plan can say plainly who the relative should call first.
The protocol
- Name three roles: one person to sit with the relative, one to call the bank and card providers, and one to keep the record and the timeline.
- List the accounts and the published contact numbers for each, from statements rather than from anyone's memory.
- Write one rule everyone repeats: nothing moves, nothing is paid, and no codes are shared until the role assigned to verification has confirmed through a published number.
- Decide what the relative keeps control of, so the plan protects rather than removes their authority over their own money.
- Set a review date and keep the sheet where the family can find it — including with the relative's own papers.
What the tool does
Build a family response plan for a relative being targeted: three roles, account numbers, the record keeper, and one rule everyone repeats. It stores nothing and sends nothing.
Limit first: This is a family-planning aid, not legal or financial advice, and it does not give anyone authority over another person's accounts. Authority arrangements have their own legal process.

Walk the plan through once, out loud, with everyone who is named in it — a plan that has never been rehearsed tends to be forgotten in the moment. Share copies with the household members who need them.
Research log and safety checks
AI-assist path: not applicable — the plan is made of roles and phone numbers the family already has; what matters is that they rehearse it, which is not something a model can do for them. §6.10: not a frontier-pace topic.
§0.5 protection result: category is elder-protection; crisis-adjacent: no; fear/urgency/scarcity toolkit used: no. The protective function is free and the paid feature is convenience only.
