MEDIA / REMOTE HIRING

You Are Interviewing a Candidate Who May Not Be in the Room

Identity-driven hiring fraud uses a synthetic face, a proxy answerer, or a stolen profile to pass a remote interview. The employer's protection is a documented second check, not a clever tell.

Why remote interviews became an identity attack surface

Video can be generated or filtered in real time, and a second person can answer off-camera. What survives is process: verified documents, consistent history, and a second session the candidate cannot rehearse from a script.

A uniform second check defeats the attack more reliably than any spotting technique, because it does not depend on the interviewer noticing something unusual in real time.

The protocol

  1. Note what felt inconsistent — response latency, audio quality, gaze, work-history detail — without treating any one of those as proof.
  2. Run a structured second session: same person, small technical exercise, camera on, live questions about their own past work.
  3. Verify identity through the same document and background route you use for every candidate, uniformly.
  4. Record only what policy permits, and write down dates, session IDs, and observations.
  5. Route anomalies to your HR or security process rather than confronting the candidate informally.

What the tool does

Build a hiring-session integrity record It runs locally in this browser and sends nothing.

Limit first: This tool organises provenance and context; it cannot authenticate media, identify a speaker, or prove that a clip is real or synthetic.

Cost and free path

Cost: Free: one complete run in this browser, no account. Optional $4 one-time unlock allows unlimited runs of this tool on this browser. The free path and safety guidance never require payment.

Free path, in order (no cost):

  1. Your own HR or security team's fraud process
  2. FTC job-scam guidance for the pattern and reporting
  3. The staffing agency or platform that referred the candidate

What this cannot do: It cannot decide the outcome for you.

One human next step

If fraud is suspected, pause the requisition and involve your HR and security teams; if a staffing agency or platform was involved, notify it in writing so other employers get the warning.
