The free tool below runs entirely in this browser — no account, nothing stored or transmitted. Redact anything you would not want kept before you type it.
Open the companion tool →Why age bands beat one rule
A rule written for a teen is wrong for a younger child, and a rule written for a younger child gets ignored by a teen. Age bands let the same household hold different, appropriate boundaries — and let each member see that the rules are about fit, not about mistrust.
The agreement works because it is a family decision with a review date, not a decree. Rules the household helped write get kept; rules handed down get worked around.
The protocol
- Set a line for each age band: what AI is for, what is off-limits, and who to ask.
- Add the privacy boundary: what never gets pasted — names, school, address, photos of others.
- Add the human check-in: when something confusing or upsetting happens, who do we tell.
- Put a review date on it, and sign it together.
What the tool does
Build a short, age-banded household AI-use agreement with a privacy boundary and a review date. It runs in this browser; nothing is sent or stored.
Limit first: This is a family-agreement aid, not parenting or legal advice. It structures the household's own decisions; it does not decide them for you.

Print it, sign it together, and put the review date on the calendar. Revisit it when a band ages up or an app changes.
Research log and safety checks
AI-assist path: not applicable — the agreement is a family's own decision in their own words; a model draft would substitute generic rules for the household's actual values. §6.10: not a frontier-pace topic.
§0.5 protection result: category is family-teen-safety; crisis-adjacent: no; fear/urgency/scarcity toolkit used: no. The protective function is free and the paid feature is convenience only.
