MEDIA / SYNTHETIC REVIEWS

Every Review Looks Perfect. Document the Pattern Before You Buy

Synthetic reviewers, cloned presenter videos, and AI-written five-star text are now cheap. What a buyer can build is a comparison record: what was claimed, by whom, and whether any of it is traceable.

Why 'too many good reviews' is hard to act on alone

The tells are statistical, not visual: near-identical phrasing, accounts created in one window, videos that never show the product actually being used. Individually each is weak; together they are a pattern worth recording.

Written down before the purchase, the pattern becomes a document you can attach to a dispute instead of an impression you cannot send anywhere.

The protocol

  1. Copy the listing, the price, and the exact model or version you intend to buy.
  2. Record the review accounts you sampled, the dates they joined, and repeated phrases you noticed verbatim.
  3. Look for one review that shows the product in ordinary use — unboxing, wear, a receipt, a serial number.
  4. Check the seller's returns policy and whether the listing is fulfilled by the platform.
  5. Write your decision rule in advance: which evidentiary gap would stop the purchase.

What the tool does

Build a synthetic-review pattern record It runs locally in this browser and sends nothing.

Limit first: This tool organises provenance and context; it cannot authenticate media, identify a speaker, or prove that a clip is real or synthetic.

Cost and free path

Cost: Free: one complete run in this browser, no account. Optional $4 one-time unlock allows unlimited runs of this tool on this browser. The free path and safety guidance never require payment.

Free path, in order (no cost):

  1. FTC online-shopping guidance for the pattern and the report route
  2. The platform's review-integrity report form
  3. Your card issuer's dispute process, which accepts a written evidence packet

What this cannot do: It cannot decide the outcome for you.
