Open the companion tool →Why a task list beats a job title
Titles change slowly and tasks change quickly. Mapping your week by task shows what to defend, what to hand over, and what to learn next — and that map is also the evidence for a pay or scope conversation.
This is a competence plan, not a reassurance exercise: it produces a document you can take to a manager, a training provider, or a new employer.
The protocol
- List every task you did last week with a rough time estimate.
- Mark each task: better with AI, faster with AI, faster but needs checking, or human-only.
- Pick two tasks in the last two categories and name what training or practice would raise your value there.
- Write the one-page summary: what you now do that the tool cannot, and what you want to learn.
- Book the conversation — manager, training provider, or union — and record the response.
What the tool does
Build a role-transition plan It runs locally in this browser and sends nothing.
Limit first: This is a planning aid, not legal, career or financial advice. It cannot guarantee an outcome, and it does not evaluate whether a specific employer acted lawfully.
Open the companion tool →Cost and free path
Cost: Free: one complete run in this browser, no account. Optional $4 one-time unlock allows unlimited runs of this tool on this browser. The free path and safety guidance never require payment.
Free path, in order (no cost):
- Your state workforce agency's training and dislocated-worker programmes
- A local workforce board or community college advising desk
- Your union or professional association, where one exists
What this cannot do: It cannot guarantee an outcome, and it does not evaluate whether a specific employer acted lawfully.
